♡ 91 ( +1 | -1 ) Novice Nook # 35Well, we're not generating a lot of discussion with these threads, but I hope these weekly posts will keep reminding folks to head over the Chess Cafe site and look over the columns. Once we finish the Novice Nook columns what would you all think about doing the Yassar Seirawan "Inside Chess" series of annotated games, or even the Karsten Muller "Endgame Corner" columns? Something to think about for the future.
This week's column is a little weird. Some good introductory material about counting followed by a game between two extreme beginners. The commentary Heisman includes has some worthwhile conceptual info in it even if the game will leave you shaking your head.
♡ 55 ( +1 | -1 ) Well I still blunder...Well just last night I blundered my queen from a pawn in an OTB game so I like this article as it reminds me double check, just taking that extra 10 seconds in OTB to make sure everything is ok.
On what article should be taken up next, I think that Yassar Seirawan's article is very good although I perfer a Java board to analyse games otherwise I have to get my own out, but despite that his comments are very good. Just a thought, would be happy with either.
♡ 22 ( +1 | -1 ) I've finally caught up (sort of!) this is in my schedule of things to do. I'll hopefully get round to reading it later. By the sounds of it though anything which helps us to double check for blunders before moving has got to be a good thing!
