Brunetti vs. The Bunch Brunetti - The Bunch
Sicilian B20
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Bg5 e6

This is an ongoing game, 18 moves so far.
brunetti plays against the rest.
We vote for the best move to play.

I have put a "replay" of this game on my chess site.
You also find link to this game, in the gameinfo.

my move how about making 18... Nd4

I think it is an offensive move.
It will keep the initiative.

I agree Had a look at the board and agree 18...Nd4 looks good.
verticalchess 21 ( +1 | -1 )
My suggestion Nd4 is probably the most sound move but we should also consider activating the dark-squared bishop with Bh6 - pinning the Knight to the Queen and then follow up with a central pawn advance.
mercy 17 ( +1 | -1 )
?? I'm not too sure 15... e5 was such a good move? However, in the current position, I think some protection needs to be given to c6
With this in mind, maybe 18... Qc5

Doris
mattafort 53 ( +1 | -1 )
Yes, Qc5 Yes, Qc5 is a very good alternative to Nd4.
Maybe even BETTER!

I wanted to do Bh6, but c-pawn should be guarded first.
This game is played REAL slow. We will have a long time to think.
Any other move we can vote for?

Brunetti - The Bunch (the rest of us)
Actual position: 213.100.118.115:7000/mattachess/mattachess.html

ECO is B97, not B20, which I said first.
atrifix 6 ( +1 | -1 )
REAL, REAL slow the last time a move was played, it was almost 9 months ago.
mattafort 32 ( +1 | -1 )
HeHe then maybe it is a no-more-game

Can someone, who knows brunetti
send him a message, and ask him,
what is the matter with that game.

I sure want to know?!?!
mattafort
bodacious_1uk 16 ( +1 | -1 )
can only body join in? if so i would agree with Bh6 maybe followed up with Qc5 - to threaten the knight.

Bodacius_1uk

to turn on the voting the webmaster at that site
has not turned on the voting for blacks next move.
We may have to email him and brunetti,
to get things rolling again.

Direct 18.. Bh6 is not possible
He only takes pawn on c6
mattafort 75 ( +1 | -1 )
webmaster = sjoroos www16.brinkster.com/noexitdc/chess/start.htm

Obviously it is sjoroos who is Webmaster
at that site. Read this:
gameknot.com/fmsg/chess3/626.shtml

If you would like to start the voting option
sjoroos
we would be very pleased.

Maybe brunetti is AFRAID of losing :D :D
and has resigned the game .....
In that case, put 0-1 into the notation!!!!
verticalchess 17 ( +1 | -1 )
That's a good point about the d6 pawn - I have decided that Qc5 would be necessary first and would help to attack White's Knight after the move Bh6.
mattafort 31 ( +1 | -1 )
Qc5 has benefits Qc5 guards d6, making Bh6 or Bg7 possible
Qc5 puts Queen more into center.
Qc5 give opportunity to make a7-a5 later
to guard b4
this will free other pieces for more interesting tasks

White will probably next do Bh5+
which destroys black castle.
so 18... Qc5 19. Bh5+ can be the moves to come
mercy 26 ( +1 | -1 )
Glad you like it Yes, ...Qc5 has benefits. It defends d6 (freeing the Bishop) and c6. I was worried about white playing Bf3. If ...Qc5 is played, I dont think Bf3 is much to worry about anymore. However...
I dont think white will play 19.Bh5. I think stronger would be to expect 19.Nd5

Yes, Qc5 is a good move -- I'd vote for it. However, this game is so old, 8 or more months old, that we have to get in contact with brunetti to remind him of the game and ask if he's willing to resume play. If I remember correctly, the reason the game stagnated was that people gradually posted fewer and fewer ideas about what to do next and eventually there was quite a lag between moves.

Good luck in getting it going again!

thanks I have sent a message to sjoroos who is webmaster at that site.
He, I hope, will turn on the voting
and tell brunetti the game is going again.

Is vietnamese_girl_18 "Forever Young"?
Doesn't vietnamese women get older than 18?

Any other moves than Qc5; Nd4 we can consider?
www16.brinkster.com/noexitdc/chess/gkcm_match.htm
mercy 91 ( +1 | -1 )
18... Nd4? Allows 19.Rxb4 Qxa2 20.Qc3 Kd8 (This move HAS to be played! since 21.Rxd4 followed by 22.Qc6 is threatened!) 21.Rxd4 (21.Rb2 may be better) exd 22.Qxd4 I'm not sure how to continue here for Black but lets try 22... Qa5 but then... 23.Kf2! followed by Bf3 and I would assess that white stands better.

This final position is tricky to analyse... one is tempted to say that black has a better chance due to his a pawn. In fact, if you remove every piece, I'm willing to say that black does have better chances. However... white still has pieces on the board and I do not see anyway that black could forceably exchange them. Last and least... the pieces that white has on the board... are well placed and better then black's... despite being the exchange up, black has a sorry bishop that will spend its time defending pawns AND... 2 Rooks with nowhere to go. Let's not forget a king stuck in the center.

I'd be interested in continuing this match if brunetti ever gets the time and there's enough interest. However, if the match is not resumed, then perhaps brunetti would like to see the old analysis threads (he requested to see them eventually at the beginning of the match). If so, it wouldn't be too hard to dig up the old threads and provide links.

"Poll has NOT started yet !
Discussion still going on at gameknot!
Come back later to vote.."

This is the only message you get at sjoroos website.
www16.brinkster.com/noexitdc/chess/no_poll_yet.htm

I tell you, I wouldn't run a website in this way.
Sorry to see such things (being a swedish).
If I had that website, with sjoroos facilities,
you would see something else, I tell you.
----------------------------------------------

I have seen brunetti has posted some posts at Forum, only a day ago.
But he maybe didn't get his eyes on this thread.
So, I send him a link to this thread now.
We hope for the best!
------------------------------------------------

Thanks, mercy for your good analyse of 18... Nd4?!
18... Qc5 is our move, so far.

How about moving Ra8?
Any other moves?

I have sent the following msg to brunetti, a minute ago.

Hello, brunetti!

Brunetti vs. The Bunch

Quote, mattafort says:

Now I have sent message to sjoroos, with no reaction.
So, I now address you Alex, brunetti.
And I know you will respond.
(and if you don't, I write so in next post, at the thread) :) :D

You have to understand, that WE ARE MANY
that would REALLY ENJOY to win over you ....

but we wait - i guess both of them are busy men
sjoroos 103 ( +1 | -1 )
Sorry.. .. for not having ansered your posts earlier, but i've
been extremely busy recently.

The reason why this game stopped is 2 things:

1. The Voting-function used was ended by the
company that hosted it :-(
2. I didn't have the time to keep the site updated.

brunetti agreed to continue this later, so if i ask
him kindly we can start the game up again.
If doing so it will be hosted at my NEW chess-site
that i am developing right now and that hopefully
is up and running in mostly 1 month :-)

The new site will be somthing completely different
from the old, and MUCH BETTER in any way !
I will host the GKCM-Bunch-game, puzzles, tutorials,
a forum for discussing chess, an internal PM system
and MUCH, MUCH more..... (suggestions welcome).

So if you just keep your head cool for a couple of
weeks it will all be there for everyone to join :-)

Best regards,

Peter sjoroos
