ForumFunGame #5 OpeningVote Looks like WT won#4. This one I'd like to make several changes.
First, to put in the first move or so, to start from. And decide which by a PopularityPoll. So there will be three days from now, to post your vote as to which opening choice you'd rather participate in, of these:
(A)1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5
(B)1.e4 d5 3.exd5
(C)1.b4 {for this,also indicate color preferred, to be sure enough players for both}
******
So please cast a vote for (A)(B)or(C) regardless of which side you will prefer to play on. You may suggest a different opening , after voting, if you wish. If everyone jumps onto it instead, then we'll use it. But am only taking these alternate suggestions on March 6 or 7th. Voting will end sometime on the 10th,
most likely.
********
The other change I wish to try is to allow a comment by the posting player about the game, or his move, as long as it does not exceed 5 words and cannot name a specific square; nor advise to make a certain follow-up move to the posters. This is to add some Fun and a bit of continuity. You can see what you can get away with, but staying in letter and Spirit of the Rule :))
************************************
The rest of our previous Rules apply and follow. Plus this one: In this game, Moderator reserves the right to Change the Rules during play! But that is just if any good ideas appear, that will build interest or increase fun. Not to help out the moderators team unilaterally:))
heh heh }B-)

OLD RULES Renewed =
The rules:
#######################################################
[*Foremost is to enjoy the game(s). So RULES here are guidelines we try to follow. But no penalty or negativity about any infraction or misunderstanding of them. In that case, we'll simply clarify and continue the game.]
^^
*Please DO have a board kept set-up to follow the game, if you wish to play. Thus, No "blindfold" moves, Please!
^^
*Anyone with Forum posting privleges can join at any time, but can only make moves for one side or the other; therefore must stick with the color that their first accepted move is.
^^
*When more than one player posts for the same move number, then the first legal move posted will be the accepted move in the game.
^^
*A player can post a move for his side at any point, but cannot make two consecutive moves. Some other player must make a move before the last player to post an accepted move can post another one. (At this time, Conditional Moves will not be made; but might be tried in the future sometime. Probably a later game.)
^^
* A game will be considered RESIGNED if no one posts a move within 60 hours for the side whose turn it is. 24 hours will though be added on Sundays at 00:01 AM.
^^
[*The first player to post an accepted move for that color (excluding the moderator) will be the Captain of that side for the game.
^^
*After move 30 it is possible to offer and draw or resign. Any player posting a move can suggest to his team to offer a draw or resign the game. The team then vote on the suggestion. The team captain counts the votes from the team members. The vote is valid if 2/3 of the team votes and is desided by simple majority rules (the team captain has two votes in case of a tie). In case of less than 2/3 of the team voting the game continues.

The captain can also at any time (after move 30) call for a vote on a draw offer or resignation.

From the time of the request the team has 3 days to vote. The game will be paused during the voting.
^^
*The person to create a new FORUM game will be REFEREE/MODERATOR. Moderator posts WILL BE TYPED TOTALLY IN CAPITAL LETTERS, THUS EVERYONE ELSE IS ASKED TO REFRAIN FROM USING ALL CAPS IN THEIR POSTINGS.
^^
*All participant or spectators are welcome to post notes after the game. Additionally, participants may comment as the game goes on as long as the move commented upon is at least 5 moves in the past. If any move sequence given as arising from that prior move#, try to avoid coming close to the present position. This is just to avoid commentary that could affect the ongoing play or strategy.
[Still, its all in fun and so if it doesn't work out well, then next time notes can be prohibited until game completion.]
^^
Any suggestions about Rules or format are most welcome.
********************************************

Try to post the move in the topic like this:

21... d3 (a move for Black)

And the whole game move order (with your new move at the end) in the subject along with comments.

Have fun!
Regards, CraigAC

ionadowman 26 ( +1 | -1 )
I'll go with the majority... ...but I would like to suggest the Latvian Gambit (or even the QP Countergambit) for some future game... Do we need to declare a colour before we start? If so I choose Black for the Centre Counter, and White for the other two. Playing against myself, as it were...
Cheers,
Ion

I think White drops a piece. i.e. 8...c6 9.Nxd5 Qxb5 10.Nc7+. Although now that I think about it Black does have 9...Qd8 10.Nc3 cxb5 11.Nxb5 Bxd4 12.Nxd4 Qxd4 13.Bc3 Qxd1+ 14.Rxd1 0-0 and things look level.

7.Bd2 Bg7

null and void I think this came should be cancelled as the rules of gameknot have been broken. Stendar's running comments on the moves of the game are against the rules of helping one's game. Also takes the fun out of it.
My opinion.

Don
olean_don 2 ( +1 | -1 )
Per rules of conduct #3
alberlie 97 ( +1 | -1 )
maybe... we can simply acknowledge that white has kindly pointed out to black that he has the oportunity to loose horribly by playing ... c6 Nxd5 Qxb5. As this line was given by White, it only helps black to avoid it.
There are other replies that fare better for black(which is inasofar a safe way of putting it as _not_ dropping the queen on move 10 is in virtually all cases better than doing so). Out of those, one should be choosen.

Maybe we could all just look very blatantly at stendhar and say, each at his own volume and to noone in particular "SOMEONE ought to read the rules before playing here. SOMEONE should go to the blackboard and write "I will not discuss an ongoing game ever again" a hundred times. Not that I would name NAMES, but just a general remark, tup-di-dup-di-dup" ;o)

But, as I hate 1) e4 d5 anyway - I would be fine with starting over as well...
stendhar 50 ( +1 | -1 )
I think I'm in the wrong place I thought this was an open game so my comments were meant as impartial ase they can be. The fact that I showed a simple trap doesn't seem more than an argument for playing a certain move. Since this looked like an open forum game and according to alberlie and olean_don it isn't, please disregard my previous reply.
alberlie 76 ( +1 | -1 )
stendhar, Admittedly, the rules of this kind of game weren't posted in this thread as well.

-> gameknot.com

-> gameknot.com

Though Craig did write that the other rules are still in place. :o) You _are_ welcome to take part on either side (though now, that you made your first legal move for white, you have to stay with white for the rest of the game) but that this game is public doesn't mean that white doesn't want to win :o)

Someone move for black please!

3.Nc3 Qa5

the rules were posted in the first 2 posts above by craig

since its 5 moves past In my opinion at 3 Qa5 ,I think Qe6+ would have been the better move for black.
stendhar 19 ( +1 | -1 )
9.Nxd5 I actually think that 8.Nf3 would have been a better move after all.
1.e4 d5
2.exd5 Qxd5
3.Nc3 Qa5
4.d4 Nf6
5.Bf4 g6
6.Bd3 Nd5
7.Bd2 Bg7
8.Bb5+ c6
9.Nxd5

I guess I haven't been banned from this game...

White to move...

9.Nxd5

Seems to be a bit confused at present... But I reckon Black's still in the game.
1.e4 d5
2.exd5 Qxd5

5.Bf4 g6
6.Bd3 Nd5

9.Nxd5 Qd8
I used to play 1...d5 quite a lot as a schoolboy, but didn't make much of it. This looks like a fun game!
spurtus 2 ( +1 | -1 )
who is to play? did black play Qd8?
ionadowman 17 ( +1 | -1 )
Yep! Black played 9...Qd8. White to play. It is White's move. I'm dreaming of a White Christmas... She turned a Whiter shade of pale... Knights in White satin ...
Yeba!
